Lampasas River
2 PHOTOS We own 45 acres on the Lampasas River which follows the river nearly to the bridge on hwy 190. We have created a camping/river access area that we will rent out. Contact me at robert.luthi@gmail.com if interested.... I just floated a 25 mile stretch of the Lampasas river from the hwy190 bridge in kemper to the 195 bridge near florence. It was a very scenic trip but the water levels at this time of year is a little low. All in all it was a good float, but the water could have been a little higher. not too much white water and a lot of downed trees blocking the path. Good easy float. but like i said, it needs more water to be a better ride. David Johnson, SGT US ARMY ...
Rocky Creek
20 miles away Hi Land Owner, On the offhand chance you may be back to read this, Kayakers are some of the most respectful people in the world. Why would you want to send someone to jail for simply passing thru a navigable stream that runs thru your land? I don't get it. You know, if it's that much of an issue, you could charge people entry or just insist they check in with you first. Most people aren't looking for trouble....This stretch and all others of rocky creek are private. If I see you on the creek you will at the very least go to jail for trespassing....
Cherokee Creek
26 miles away 1 PHOTO Here's a section of Cherokee Creek 6 creek miles above the put in point on 501. Taken from my porch 70' above the water. The flow was 300cfs when taken... I've lived on the CHerokee above the 501 put in for 6 years. THe usual flow is 10-20 cfs in a good year. However, I have seen it up over 18,000cfs and it came up 32' in 4 hours back in 2004. At anything over 2000-3000cfs be very carefull of the wire, cattle panels, cable, and barbed wire at what we call the water gaps. There's at leat one at each landowner's property line. In a flood they break and trail downstream and may be invisible till you're trapped....................WT Fleming...
