Custer/Mt Rushmore KOA Nice facility. Friendly, helpful staff. We just returned from 3 nights of tent-camping there. Only complaint- 16 hwy was a bit more active at night than we would hope. Again, in a tent, you hear it all.  Didn't realize the alternate bathhouse was the one with all the remodel until our last day-very nice!!!!!... Deerfield Lake Boat Ramp Campground 14 miles away I can only speak about Deerfield lake and it is beautiful. The fishing is also good. Have caught my limit of trout on every visit. It's not crowded at all. A very nice place to get some peace and quiet.... Terry Peak 29 miles away 1 PHOTO Terry Peak Ski Area is positioned geographically to receive a substantial amount snowfall through the winter months. With elevations of 5,900-ft to over 7,000-ft. more snow can fall on Terry Peak than anywhere else in the region. It's common for snowfall predictions to exceed up to three times of what was anticipated or to receive snowfall at 5,500-ft and higher when snow wasn't expected at all. However it's important to remember that we can depend on snow at Terry Peak. With the efficient high-tec snowmaking system covering 60% of the mountain, good conditions are assured from the begriming to end of the season.
