Lake Heron Retreat
 | 17 miles away 4 PHOTOS Tent Sites, Pets OK, Fires OK, Nearby Grocery... Cabin... Stunning view... Beautiful lake view... Pavilion at Lake Heron... LAKE HERON RETREAT is a beautiful, secluded, primitive campground located on a 10 acre lake in Perry County, Pennsylvania. Our main attraction is our small, secluded area where nature lovers can enjoy nature. We are NOT a typical busy campground! We do not have utility hook-ups or running water. We are primitive. We have one primitive cabin, 3 individual campsites, and one separate area with a pavilion for groups of up to 35 people.
The 10 acre lake is stocked with Largemouth Bass and Channel Catfish. There are also nice Bluegills and Rock Bass. All fishing is catch and release unless you want to buy some of the fish you catch. No fishing license is require.
Swimming is pleasant in the spring feed lake. We have a floating ''swim platform'' from which kids can jump and adults can sunbathe. Canoes, rowboats, and peddleboats are available to rent for your boating pleasure.
There are many hiking trails rated easy to moderate. You are sure to see wildlife in the woods surrounding the lake, including, but not limited to, deer, turkeys, bear, fox, herons and many other ... |

Tussey Mountain
 | 61 miles away Okay, I'm on Tussey's Junior Race Team and we spend every waking moment at Tussey, and love it. It takes exactly 7 minutes and 43 seconds to get up the lift and 4 minutes and 22 seconds to get up the t-bar (which they fixed with duct tape) Never get chair 32, the bars don't go down, and chairs 75 and 1 are lucky. If you ask nicely in the lodge, they'll warm up your cinnamon bun for you and always try the vending machine without money first, it sometimes works. Also, never use the front door to the lodge, you are guarenteed to fall oh, and the mountain can be skied in full tuck in 15.4 seconds. ... |

Ski Denton
 | 80 miles away I have been the advisor for the Cowanesque Valley Ski and Snowboard Club for 7 years. Our club has always come to Denton Hill. We have over 60 members in our club this year ranging from 1st grade to adulthood. We are so fortunate to have access to such a terrific mountain! The trails are challenging and the scenery picturesque. Our beginner members have benefited from the patience of Denton instructors and have developed into good skiers/boarders. The prices at the snack bar are reasonable and we enjoy munching on hot chili, and nachos and cheese. Thanks Denton for helping us cope with the winter blues. We look forward to every Sunday we spend at your slopes and do not look forward to the end of the season.... |
