Upper Pony Creek Reservoir I work for the Coos Bay-North Bend water board and have the unique pleasure to view the Upper Pony Creek Dam, The Reservoir and the surrounding watershed when work there is required. The area is quiet as it is a restricted area and the resident Elk herd is often seen along with a deer or two once and a while. When the weather is nice the lake is a beautiful blue. The trees are in a scheduled harvest cycle and replaced when cut so there is stands of huge trees alongside smaller sized tree patches. all in all it is a pleasure to get to ''work'' in such a beautiful environment and to have the distinct opportunity to live in the area I do. It is possible to view this magnificant area when tours are made available through the Water Board.... Carter Lake 17 miles away Carter Lake is a really great place for friendly family fun.  The lake is great for canoeing and fishing, warm enough to swim and frolick.  The camp sites are varied with some along the lake and others along the dune.  Speaking of the dune, the walk up and over the dune to the beach is great.  There are many mosqitoes in the swampy part so beware!...
