Wildwood Acres
 | 16 miles away My dad takes me here every since I was I wanna say 12. I sadly didn't get to go last year. I love the campsites, pools, old game room, mini golf, the little store, and the volleyball court. I love the location. This campsite is right across the street from a drive-in! The drivein is so much fun to go to. Their movies are always new releases. Also, In the morning hours on the weekends, The drive-in turns into a flea market! You can literally just walk right across the street from your campsite to the fleamarket. It is my favorite camping place ever. I regret not going in 2006 and it is not my fault that I couldn't go. My dad got married to this woman who doesn't like camping. All I know is, We are going this year for sure!... |
Connoquenessing Creek
 | 28 miles away For those that enjoyed the stretch above Hamony Junction, PA, the removal of the dam at that location has caused the stream to lose a lot of it's recreational value. The creek in the section extending above Harmony can no longer support canoes - the Wild Waterway Conservancy's (the dam removal owner) intent to put in a canoe boat launch is laughable since there is limited water that is now available for canoeing....Hi, an update on this trip... the take-out listed seems to be the old hydro plant in Ellwood City. The trail is very overgrown and the road is another three hundred or so yards carry uphill to the road. The better trip is to continue down the Connie to just under the new bridge (5th street) and take out at the old water treatment plant. You can park close to the water (ask first) on the access road and if you park the shuttle vehicle right can see it from the water. This would add only a few more minutes to the trip. There is a new outfitter on the water there too, Keystone Sojourns is opening a shop in Ellport for canoe & kayak rentals and they offer a shuttle service too. Phone # is 724-713-2093. Good paddling, Dave... |
