North Tyger River
 | 25 miles away ...Fun paddle if the water is good. Put in under the bridge on Morris Bridge Road,(gauge is here). I usually take out river left under bridge right after Nesbitt Shoals, just after confluence of North and South Tyger (you know it's close after a large S-turn in the river) Take out either river left, or right AFTER the bridge-lots of 'No Trespassing' signs before the bridge. Shuttle is about 6 hilly miles. Mostly quiet, with some scrapes below 1' on gauge. There are some fun little rapids: First one take dead center. Third one with a nice slot river-left of center rock formation but you need some water. You can also go river right with a hard slide/small hydraulic back towards the center-then drag back up and run it again. There is a nice tiny play spot river-left about 2/3 into the run. My favorite is a series of small drops about 3/4 into the trip: fun run of about 50 yds-at low water, need to make some turns, watch your angles-small island bisects river-take just left-of-center line and pick your way down on the left. Sneaky little rapid river-left just before bridge can catch yo... |
