Blue water Beach Campground
 | We love Blue Water Beach. It is predominantly a RV park but, has a couple of cool and secluded campsites. The property sits on the shores of Lake Erie. Many sites have a view of the lake and some sites are lakefront. We graduated from a backpacking tent to a RV (our hard-sided tent, haha)and this was a good place for us. The sites are larger than most parks, and the RVs are NOT lined up in a row, like toothpics. Much of it is wooded and hilly. It's got a great creek running through it and the beach is really nice and private. A good portion of the residents keep their sites year to year. My husband and I love having a little place down by the lake, and we have made some good friends too.

Cockaigne
 | 25 miles away 1 PHOTO Cockaigne-Ski-Area... ... find nearly half of Cockaigne's terrain rated intermediate and another 40% rated for beginners. This makes it a fine place to take a younger family or a family that doesn't have a chance to get out on the slopes very often. With good snow cover and conditions almost a certainty, it's a good bet that everyone will have fun.
The name ''Cockaigne'' is reportedly Old French in origin, and means a ''place of ease and delicacies,'' hence the delicious names of the area's trails, which include Jelly Roll, Marzipan, Peach Cobbler, and Macaroon.
There's a half pipe and terrain park, and the area between Sugar Plum and Kandy Kaigne is nicely gladed. Down at the base is a full service lodge with rentals, a cafeteria, and the snowsports school. Cockaigne leaves the lights on and the lifts running most every night, but it is closed on Monday.
The rolling hills of far western New York are a fine place to visit, and the area in and around Cherry Creek, where you'll find Cockaigne, are full of lodging, from Budget Inn to the historic William Seward Inn. There are a number of go... |
Holimont
 | 57 miles away 3 PHOTOS For nearly 50 years, families and snowsports enthusiasts from miles around have converged on HoliMont – North America’s largest private ski area devoted to family skiing adventures.
Generations of members have been drawn in by the amazing skiing, only to fall in love with the warm, community atmosphere that makes HoliMont the kind of place you never want to leave.
And while a sense of community can’t be manufactured, snow’s a different story. HoliMont’s patented snowmaking system creates 700 vertical feet of wall-to-wall, top-to-bottom snow. Combine that with an average of 200 inches of natural snow per season, and you’re guaranteed a great run every time.
During the week, HoliMont is happy to welcome non-members and groups, who can forget about standing around shivering in long lines. As lifts service over 50 slopes and trails, as well as the Terrain Parks and Halfpipe.
