Lake Lockloma Very nice lake, very beautiful place. It has been dug between high hills and there is only one road to access it. Once you're down there, surrounded with trees, it seems as though you're in another world, like Narnia or so. The cottages are quite charming and there is a pathway all around the lake (20mns walk).... Black River 12 miles away it is a fun river to take the family and float or ride a boat down and is fun just bout ne time of the year... St. Francis River 28 miles away It's awesome.... Big Creek 29 miles away I kayaked the big creek May 5 at 3ft from Des Arc to Sam A. Baker take out at 143 bridge, it was an 11 mile float and very enjoible for Missouri waters. There were whitewater sections about every 1/4 mile and was all under class II, the rock gardens kept me on my toes but was not difficult at all. I would recomend trying this creek (river) to anyone seeking excitment and is not to experienced to try the St. Francis. Cheers!...
