The water feels great and its a perfect place to have lunch or an outside activity.... Dog Lake 17 miles away Dog Lake is much more of a pond than a lake.  Perhaps, that can be attributed to a drought.  The white sandy beach is nice and plentiful.  There is a nice view of the sky and stars from Dog Lake.  However, with its close proximity to the Tallahassee airport, the sky and the air are often disrupted by planes landing and taking off.... Silver Lake 18 miles away WONDERFUL!  I am so glad to find this site, and look forward to submitting pictures of Silver Lake.  In the meantime, please note that there is NO camping at Silver Lake.  There has been no camping at Silver Lake in ten or twelve years. However, there is a nice clean little swimming hole with a sandy beach which is enjoyed by a nice mix of people. Silver Lake is a family place -- alcohol is not allowed, and pets need to be on a leash -- and people have a good time together in this clean, convenient park....
