Hole in the Ground Campground
3 PHOTOS I ALSO HAVE GONE CAMPING AT HOLE IN THE GROUND SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL I WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY I LOVE IT THERE AND NOW SO DO MY KIDS.... I've been going to hole in the ground, off and on for 40 years. From when I was a kid hiking in the forest, tubing down the creek, swimming in the pools, and fishing for planted trout that the hatchery would toss in the creek. Now it is a restricted salmon run, there is no planters and restrictions on the type of tackle you can use. The fishing was great as a kid. I like how peaceful it is, with the sound of creek and an occasional bluejay chirping. I enjoy cooking on the wood stoves. There are only a hand full left, (what a shame). I will be meeting one of my brothers and dad at the hole in three weeks. My large family with foster children love going to the hole. Some have been before and some will experience it for the first time. **lot of good memories**...
Heart Lake Twin Meadows Trail
Twin Meadows was originally named White Meadows and our old family cabin is the one between the meadows. They ran cattle with T.A.Spencer the first pres. of the Tehama Co. Cattleman's Assoc. The forming of the first association was in response to the loss of grazing rights when the park was formed. The shortage of beef during WW1 prompted Woodrow Wilson to state that if necessary they would raise sheep on the lawn of the White House. ...
Potato Patch Campground
We camp at Potato Patch campground annually with several other families. It is a very nice campground on a beautiful river. There is not a lot to do nearby though and it is a primitive campground with pit toilets and no showers. There are no hookups for RVs, but we tent camp anyway. We mostly play by the river (very cold water). Our attraction is the beauty and the people we camp with. We used to fish, but it is all catch and release. I can definitely recommend it but you have to be looking for a relaxing and beautiful setting and mostly doing not much of anything. ...

Black Rock Campground
11 miles away Went fly fishing there for a day, it was great. Were leaving today to go on a camping trip there....Black Rock is a very beautiful place to go visit. The roads are very narrow and there are a lot of cliff sides. My grandfather lived out there for a few years on a ranch which borders the Ishi trail. I have walked the Ishi trail and that is a beautiful experience as well. It runs along a river. The whole drive in there is pretty amazing you can see the valley below plus the Big Black Rock sticking out of the ground it looks more like its own mountain....

Soda Springs
98 miles away 4 PHOTOS ...ife. Soda Springs is the kind of resort you choose to take your children to for their first day out on snow. There is no long haul carrying gear from a far off parking structure. It's car to slopes with little effort. The lifts are all within site. The niche Soda carves is one that takes families into the sport without immersing them into high priced, high paced resorts that can be all too intimidating. The snow tubing is all about big smiles and tummy ticklers. Its got all the atmosphere of fresh snow, beautiful mountain scenery and an escape from all that is hectic below the tree line. Kids line up each and every weekend to enjoy. Planet Kids, geared for children ages 8 or younger and under 42'' tall now has 2 tubing carousels, a tubing lane and more! Planet Kids' main feature is a NEW Moving carpet designed to help kids go up the small slope and teach them how to get down. Just a short 40 foot slope gives kids plenty of room to learn how to stop and turn. Open daily from 10am to 3pm, rental equipment is included in the Planet Kids package. Kids ages 6-12 can hop on their ver...
