The actual name of this lake is John A. Cooper Lake. It was named in honor of the famous developer of Cherokee Village, AR. This lake sits on Private Property belonging to the Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America. The property is known as Kia Kima Scout Reservation. The property staffed by a full-time ranger and is available year round to Scouts and the occasional community/church groups. The camp is accessible by reservation only. Woody past away in 2007.? The canoe rental and campground is closed.? This place will be missed....My family and I went to Woody's Canoe Rental and Campground a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful weekend camping and canoeing. They have water and electricity at all camp sites. They have new canoes and kayaks and a small store on site. The river is beautiful and cold. Woody told me there are a 100 springs that feed into this river. I would highly recommend this campground.... |
