Black Sands Beach is also accessible only by boat, it is about 4 miles from Ketchikan. Also, there is no mountain called Ward Mountain in the area.... Kegan Cove - Tongass National Forest Kegan Cove is on Prince of Wales Island, Black Sand Beach is on Gravina Island, and Carlanna Lake, creek and dam all are on Revillagigedo Island. You'd need a fairly good-sized boat and/or a floatplane to see all three in one trip....
