Lady Ann Lake 12 miles away This lake is now Sun Lake and is a private community lake for residents. It used to be one of the best public pay access lakes in the state for large bass. Was more of a spring fed swamp back then and has been blasted and manicured with apartments and homes (waterfront) The old spring house and the original dam are still in place. Short Creek 27 miles away We have had a really bad drought this year. In fact, one of the most severe in history. I'm sorry you had that experience. Most locals can tell visitors about the condition of the creek, as any of us could have cautioned you about the weather conditions causing lack of creek water. Sincerely, Brenda F...I done this stretch yesterday (9/15/07) We started at 12:30 and got stranded at dark because the water level was too low. We did hit several class III to IV's but then the creek dried up about 2 miles before Guntersville. It sucked. If you go, leave in the morning and make sure the water level is up....
